Case summary: Ms. Song commissioned Seapoe Relo to ship her family's furniture by sea to Sydney, Australia.

Ms. Song is preparing to emigrate to Sydney, Australia. She had lived in her Harbin home for years, and every piece of furniture in it had been carefully chosen. It was good quality, she was used to it, and she was attached enough to it that selling it off felt wrong.

At first she had two concerns. Northeastern cities sit far from any port, and she doubted there was a reliable local shipping company that would come to her door to pack. Australian furniture, meanwhile, costs three to four times what it does in China, and the styles and sizes don't really fit how Chinese families live, so buying everything new made little sense. Then she found out Seapoe Relo offers nationwide door-to-door service, Harbin included, and handles everything from measuring and packing to export declaration, customs clearance and delivery. She compared a few options and chose Seapoe.

The shipment was the full set of household furniture and belongings from her Harbin home, 18 cubic meters in total:

  • Living room: sofa, coffee table, TV cabinet, side cabinet, bookcase
  • Bedroom: bed, mattress, wardrobe, bedside tables, dressing table
  • Dining room: dining table, dining chairs, sideboard
  • Other: everyday appliances, kitchenware, clothing and luggage, and other personal items

Seapoe's packing crew arrived with a full set of tools and materials and packed everything on site. Solid wood furniture got four layers of protection: pearl wool, corner guards and hardboard. Fragile items and appliances were given custom protection. The whole process was photographed and logged. Once packed, the goods went straight into the Seapoe warehouse to await shipment.

After packing and warehousing, our customs team prepared all the paperwork in advance and handled export declaration on her behalf. Once cleared, the cargo was booked on the next available China–Australia sailing. Real-time tracking ran throughout, so Ms. Song could check the latest position of her goods whenever she wanted.

As the shipment neared Sydney, the clearance team got in touch with Ms. Song ahead of time so her new-migrant documentation would be ready, then handled import clearance and the related formalities, applying for the duty-free concession available to new migrants. They also made sure the goods met Australian quarantine requirements so they cleared quickly. Once that was done, a local Sydney delivery crew brought everything to her home by dedicated truck.

The crew carried all the furniture inside, unpacked it, checked that nothing was damaged, placed the large pieces where Ms. Song wanted them, and cleaned up and took away every bit of packing waste.
