Upright Piano Sea Freight from Suzhou to Paris, France
Service route: Suzhou to Paris, France;
Service type: one-stop door-to-door moving service;
Case summary: Ms. Qi hired Seapoe Relo to ship an upright piano to Paris by sea.
1. Background
Ms. Qi's family was about to settle in Paris for a work assignment, and her daughter's upright piano was the sticking point. The glossy finish is delicate, and she had already asked a few freight forwarders about it. In the end she had a Seapoe consultant come to the house. After looking at the piano, the consultant put together a dedicated plan: careful packing at the home, a second round of reinforcement at the warehouse, and a staff member handling export declaration and customs clearance. The piano would travel door to door along with the family's other belongings. Ms. Qi signed on the spot.
2. Packing at the home
On packing day, three movers arrived. They put on shoe covers at the door and laid cardboard along the moving route, protecting the wood floors completely. The keyboard and lid were each locked shut, and the pedals were wrapped in soft padding. The body was covered in pearl cotton first, then secured with layer after layer of stretch film. Then they cut cardboard on site to shield the four corners and the side panels, sealing everything with tape. The bench and the sheet music went into their own boxes.

3. Warehouse reinforcement and the wait for loading
Back at the warehouse, the piano got a second round of reinforcement: the whole thing was slipped into a dedicated carton printed with the Seapoe logo. Because an upright piano is heavy and its finish is delicate, the base was fitted with pallet feet for a forklift, so it could be loaded and unloaded mechanically and would never be tilted or turned upside down along the way. The warehouse also set aside a dedicated spot for it, with a clear rule that nothing would be stacked on top of the box. There it waited out the ten-odd days before loading in free storage, while customer service sent the loading plan and sailing schedule to Ms. Qi's phone.

4. Loading, shipping, customs clearance, and delivery
At loading, the piano was placed on its own according to its markings and firmly secured. It was declared and shipped together with the household goods. After the sea shipment reached France, it cleared customs smoothly on the strength of the long-term residence certificate and other documents Ms. Qi had prepared in advance. A dedicated truck handled the Paris leg, and the piano was carried steadily into the new home.
5. Customer feedback
When the packaging came off, the finish was as glossy as ever and the key cover was undamaged. Her daughter sat down and played a passage right there, and the tone was the same familiar one. Ms. Qi said, "From Suzhou to Paris is more than ten thousand kilometers. With the piano in Seapoe's hands, our family never had to worry about a thing."
