Case Overview: The client entrusted Seapoe Relo to ship solid wood furniture from Guangzhou to Ireland by sea via sea freight.

This client was moving an entire household from Guangzhou to Ireland by sea, shipping solid wood dining tables, coffee tables, dining chairs, and other furniture. Since these solid wood pieces have delicate lacquer finishes that are prone to scratches and moisture damage, and given the rough, humid conditions of ocean transport, Seapoe’s team performed standardized, meticulous packing on-site—balancing cargo safety with space efficiency.

1. Pre-cleaning & Basic Protection

The team first cleaned and inspected each piece, then wrapped all lacquered surfaces with foam wrap to prevent scratches and adhesive residue, establishing a solid base layer of protection.

2. Smart Void Filling to Reduce Sea Freight Volume

For the open spaces in dining chairs, the team cleverly packed the client’s clothes and soft items inside, securing the furniture tightly to prevent shifting and rubbing. This dual-purpose approach made full use of dead space, compressed the total cargo volume, and saved the client money on shipping.

3. Box Sealing & Organized Loading

Finally, based on each item’s actual dimensions, the team cut and customized cardboard boxes on-site for a snug fit, avoiding loosening from gaps or damage from undersized packaging. After boxing, they sealed and reinforced everything with moisture- and dust-proofing. All pieces were labeled systematically. The entire shipment was then consolidated, customs-cleared, booked, and dispatched—delivered straight to Ireland with a standardized packing workflow that kept the client’s solid wood furniture safe throughout the journey.
