Shipping Solid Wood Furniture to Canada
Service route: Zhenjiang to Canada;
Service type: One-stop door-to-door moving service;
Case summary: Mr. Xiao engaged Seapoe to ship his personal solid wood furniture to Canada by sea.
Mr. Xiao had recently obtained Canadian permanent residency and was preparing to move to Canada with his family. Before leaving, he thought it over: the furniture back home was solidly made and he liked using it, so letting it sit and gather dust seemed a waste. Canadian solid wood furniture doesn't come cheap, either. That's what put the idea in his head — shipping his furniture from China to Canada.
Finding a dependable international moving company isn't easy. It just so happened that a friend of Mr. Xiao's had used Seapoe and had nothing but praise for the service, so Mr. Xiao got in touch. After going through his requirements in detail with a consultant, he felt confident about the whole thing and signed the contract.
Packing at the home
Solid wood furniture has two things to fear: knocks and moisture. The packing team knows this well. On the date agreed with Mr. Xiao, the crew arrived with professional packing materials.
They began by sorting the furniture and packing each piece according to the protection it needed. For the solid wood bookcase, for example, they laid down layer after layer of EPE foam, fitted corner strips on the edges, and finished with hard cardboard, all to prevent impact damage in transit.
Reinforcing at the warehouse
Once the furniture reached the Seapoe warehouse, the packing was inspected again and reinforced a second time. Since the vessel schedule meant a wait, the furniture was stored at the Seapoe warehouse, with 30 days of free storage.

Dedicated customs handling
Next came the ocean freight. Seapoe's customs team had the full set of export and import documents ready ahead of time. The problems Mr. Xiao had worried about at first — goods getting held up, duties being levied — never came up. The shipment was released without a hitch once it arrived at port.
Delivery to the door
After clearance, the local delivery team in Canada took the furniture to Mr. Xiao's home by dedicated truck, reassembled it as it was, and put everything back in place. They even cleaned up the site before leaving. Mr. Xiao didn't have to worry about a thing.
