Removal Goods

• AWB or OBL (Seaway Bill is recommended)
• Passport ID Page (colour)
• Inventory in English
• Original is not required
• Tax Identification Number (TIN) is mandatory (www.frcs.org.fj)
• Complete CE111 or unaccompanied baggage form will be required by Fiji Revenue Customs Services (www.frcs.org.fj)
• Visa grant letter or visa stamp in passport for Non-Fijian citizens (www.immigration.gov.fj)

• Who may apply for used Personal and Household goods exemption:
• (1) Returning Fijian Citizen who has been away from not more than 12months
• 2) Non Citizens with employment or residence visa only who are entering Fiji of more than 12months
• All household & Personal effects entering Fiji are subject to Bio Security inspection & Custom examination
• Teleco, fridge, freezer, drone device, equipments will require import license or permit before importation
• Food processed may be imported on limited quantity with English labels and expiry date

Diplomatic Moving

• The local Embassy complete FA608 and submit to Ministry of Foreign Affairs for approval
• OBL or AWB (Seaway Bill is recommended)

• Import of Alcohol is allowed for diplomats but limited to annual quota agreed by the local MOFA and respective embassies in the country

• (1) Returning Fijian Citizen who has owned the Vehicle for more than 12months
• (2) Non-Citizens with employment or residence visa only and have owned the vehicle for more than 12months

Documents

Documents required for importing used household goods, personal effects, and related shipments.

• Copy of passport
• Packing list
• Original bill of lading (OBL) / express release (2 non-negotiable copies showing ocean freight rate) / air waybill (AWB)
• Residence permit / work permit / letter of employment
• Detailed inventory of new items (bought less than 6 months before shipment arrival) in English, dated, valued, signed by the shipper, with original invoices attached
• Tax identification number
• Free entry certificate (if applicable)
• Diplomatic declaration signed by the diplomatic organization
• Customs baggage declaration (Form CE 11), signed in the presence of a customs officer

Specific Information

Free entry certificate: Takes approximately 20-40 days to obtain. Relevant documents must be received by the agent before the shipment arrives to minimize port charges.

Shipper must be present for customs clearance. All shipments are subject to inspection.

Currency: Fijian dollar (FJD). Approximately 1 USD = 2.25 FJD.

Duties & Taxes

Duty-free for qualifying importers: Returning residents who have lived abroad for at least 12 months and persons with dual citizenship are entitled to duty and VAT exemptions. Clothing, toiletries, personal computers, and other personal effects are also free to import.

Diplomatic exemptions: Diplomatic organizations are exempt from duty and VAT provided the consignee completes Form FA608 prior to the shipment's arrival.

New items: Items purchased less than 6 months before arrival are subject to duties and taxes. A detailed inventory with original invoices is required.

Prohibited & Restricted Items

• Unlawful drugs and narcotics — strictly prohibited
• Birds (all species) — prohibited
• Pornography — prohibited
• Counterfeit items — prohibited
• Cultural artifacts and objects of cultural importance — prohibited for export
• Henna — prohibited
• Palm trees and any byproducts — prohibited
• Explosive materials — prohibited
• Meat and dairy products — prohibited
• Banned dog breeds (Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, Japanese Tosa, pit bull terriers and mixes)
• Serval cats and serval-cross cats within 5 generations

• 250 cigarettes, or 250g cigars, or 250g tobacco, or a combination not exceeding 250g
• 2.25 litres of spirits
• 4.5 litres of wine
• 4.5 litres of beer
• Goods not exceeding FJD 400 in total value

• All weapons including firearms, knives, swords, and explosives — police permit required PERMIT REQUIRED
• Food, plants, plant parts, camping equipment, and biological specimens — special permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries required PERMIT REQUIRED

Consignment Instructions

Contact the destination agent to ensure all requirements have been met prior to import, especially for differences regarding air/sea shipments.

Free entry certificate takes 20-40 days. Start this process well before the shipment arrives. Documents must be received by the agent prior to shipment arrival.

Import license for vehicles must be obtained before the vessel arrives. Without this, the vehicle cannot clear customs.

Biosecurity is paramount. Fiji is an island nation with fragile ecosystems. Biosecurity inspections are thorough. All wood packaging, camping equipment, outdoor items, and vehicles will be inspected for soil, seeds, and pests. Clean all items thoroughly before shipping.

Pet import is a months-long project. From titer test blood draw to quarantine release, the minimum timeline is approximately 6 months (150 days pre-arrival blood draw plus 30 days quarantine). Customers should begin the process at least 6-8 months before their move.

Port of entry: Suva (main seaport) and Lautoka. Air freight arrives at Nadi International Airport. Quarantine station for pets is at Koronivia, Nausori (near Suva), regardless of port of arrival.
